Applications are invited for Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences (GESS) Scholarships to pursue PhD degree in Germany. Application is open for international students in 2018-2019 academic year. Up to 45 PhD scholarships are available at University of Mannheim.

The aim of this scholarships is to encourage and support academically able and talented students.

Benefits for Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences (GESS) Scholarships:

Admitted students receive a scholarship and there is no tuition fee. CDSE students are financed by a scholarship during the first and the second year (1.200 €/month) of their studies. The Center for European Economic Research (ZEW) offers a limited number of scholarships to first-year CDSE students starting in September 2017. The scholarship comprises a monthly living allowance of 1200 Euros.

Number of Scholarships: Up to 45 scholarships will be offered to the best applicants.

Entry requirements

  • Master’s degree (research oriented) or excellent Bachelor’s degree in the respective field
  • Letter of motivation explaining why you want to join one of our programs
  • Two letters of recommendation from university professors
  • Test scores Business Program: GMAT or GRE (preferably GMAT)
    Economics Program: GRE
    Social Sciences Program: TOEFL
  • Writing sample (e.g. a paper you have written during your studies)

Nationality: International applicants are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.
