Applications are invited for 3-year PhD scholarships in Molecular Microbiology to study in Denmark. International students are eligible to apply for these scholarships.The projects aim to characterize factors that are contributing to the survival (persistence) of bacteria in the stationary phase using Escherichia coli as the model organism. The PhD candidates will gain experience in working with bacterial genetics, biochemistry and physiology, using cutting edge techniques in molecular biology and microbiology.

The University of Copenhagen is the oldest university and research institution in Denmark. Founded in 1479 as a studium generale, it is the second oldest institution of higher education in Scandinavia after Uppsala University.

Applicants must have excellent language skills in English and have excellent communications skills.

Scholarship Award: Terms of appointment and payment are in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC). The starting salary for candidates with an MSc degree will be a minimum of DKK 309.109 annually (April 2016 level) plus pension contribution with the possibility of salary negotiation.
